Frequently asked questions

We want you to feel completely comfortable buying, selling, or trading in your timepiece online. Please, take a moment to read the common questions we get below so you can get comfortable with how we do things here at East Coast Timepieces.

We want you to feel completely comfortable buying online.

  • Return policy: We offer a 5 day inspection period from the day your watch is delivered. If you’re not satisfied for any reason, you can return the watch in the same condition it was received for a refund (minus any shipping/handling where applicable).
  • Condition requirements: The watch must be returned in the exact condition it was shipped and with all of the accessories that were associated with it. If the watch returns in a different condition than shipped, or missing accessories, the refund amount will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Warranty: Most watches we sell include a 12 month East Coast Timepieces limited warranty that covers mechanical defects not related to misuse, impact, or water damage. Factory warranties, when still valid, will also pass to you where applicable.

At East Coast Timepieces, authenticity is non-negotiable. We stand behind every watch we sell. If a watch we’ve sold is ever proven to be non-authentic, we will make it right in accordance with our authenticity guarantee. Every watch goes through a multi-step verification process that includes:

  • Full inspection by a professional watchmaker – movement, case, bracelet, dial, and hands are all checked under magnification.

  • Serial and reference number verification – we confirm they match the correct model and configuration.

  • Cross-check against market databases – to help ensure the watch has not been reported lost or stolen.

  • Paperwork review – when available, we verify warranty cards, receipts, and service records

We’ve made it as simple and transparent as possible:

  1. Request a quote – Send us your watch details (brand, model, reference, condition, photos, and any box/papers).

  2. Receive an initial offer – We’ll review the information and provide a no-obligation quote based on current market values.

  3. Ship your watch securely – If you accept the estimate, we’ll send insured shipping instructions or a prepaid label so you can safely send your watch to us.

  4. Inspection & final offer – Our team inspects the watch in person. If everything matches your description, we confirm the offer. If we need to adjust it, we explain exactly why.

  5. Get paid fast – Once you approve the final offer, we issue payment via bank wire or certified check. For trades, we apply the value directly toward your new purchase.

You’re never locked in. If you decline the final offer, we’ll ship your watch back to you, using insured shipping.

Yes. We treat every watch like it’s our own.

  • Fully insured shipping – Both for purchases and for watches you send to us, shipments are FedEx insured up to the full value of the watch (subject to carrier limits and our agreement with you).

  • Discreet, secure packaging – We use plain, unbranded boxes with protective internal packaging so nothing shifts or rattles.

  • Signature required – Deliveries require an adult signature to reduce the risk of loss or theft.

  • Tracking provided – You’ll receive tracking information so you can follow your shipment every step of the way.

For sellers, our team will walk you through how to pack your watch correctly and what to include, so it arrives safely and is covered by insurance.

Our offers are based on real market data—not guesses. When we value your watch, we look at:

  • Current market prices – What similar watches are selling for right now across the secondary market.

  • Brand, model & reference – Certain references, dials, and configurations trade at a premium.

  • Condition – Case and bracelet wear, polishing history, crystal condition, and how well the watch is running.

  • Box, papers & accessories – Original box, warranty card, booklets, extra links, and straps all add value.

  • Service history – Recent, documented service with a reputable watchmaker can increase value.

We aim to make fair, competitive offers with zero pressure. If our number doesn’t work for you, you’re under no obligation to sell.
